"ABSURD"
ERWIN WURM:
These images in the gallery are images taken by Erwin Wurm. They are 'ABSURD' because they are unusual as they would not actually happen in reality because not every day will u see a person face down in a green bowl like or see half a lorry up a wall. However it is really interesting because it is abnormal and irregular. To be honest if I think that its not what I would really like taking images of because Im more of a nature photographer however saying that I am going to try it and u might see that I will enjoy it and you will find out in my final evaluation.
These two images on the left and right of this evaluation are going to be the two images that I am going to try and take images of but not exactly the same it will be similar. I have chosen these images because they are quite easy to take images of these because I don't really want to go straight in to images that are complicated so I will try. The image on the right is a man with a chair on his head this is absurd because you would not see a person that would have a chair on their head so even though it is easy to re an act it can still look effective and absurd. The image on the left is absurd because you would not really see a person on the street with their head in a green small bowl with other bowls in the background however saying that it actually looks effective with the cars in the background and shops on the side it just has so much colour it just makes it look so happy and vintage and I don't really know what to actually say because the body looks like really relaxed well to relaxed so it looks like she is a doll but I will never know unless they write it in a blog or something. I will be using an ipod and take some images like the image by erwin wurm.

These images that I have taken are my first experiment after looking at Erwin Wurm. I do not think that they are 'the ones' because its my first experiment and that I have not done this before. However i can say that I tried and the images that I have taken do have a similarity to the images that I chose from the selection of Erwin Wurm. I would say that my favourite image that I has the most similarity of the women head in a green bowl and this image, was the first image in the gallery of my images which is ben on the ping pong table with out a head. It is similar to the head in the bowl because she was face down and her front was on the floor so all you could see was her back of her body and ben is face down and all you can see is his back of his body, legs ect. These images are not a total fail in my eyes, however, not the best and this means that its time to do more experiments and try and think more and get one point or thing to take images of and just do it like that then just how I am doing it which is taking anything that comes to mind. I took these images from the ipods so I think that I might use a digital camera and see if it could make a difference to my images such as the quality of the images. I also think a could way to show my images is to do what I do with my images from past projects which is take image with meaning and I think it will be better to evaluate and thats what I like to do with images which i tell a story but images that can freeze to that exact moment which can highlight the emotions the secretes of what ever the character looks like or feels like.
2nd Experimentation
These images are my 2nd experiment and I can say that it has gone better then I thought it would be. This is because each of these images has a story and has a life background and you know this by the look of the mask/ models, such as the model (Alex) is sitting in the corner with her head in her lap and her arms are hugging her legs that are up close to her chest , this story/ background is basically a girl that is excluded and is socially awkward and does not like being in the spot light which means she is Cautious . So just having a person just doing a simple movement that is captured shows a lot about a persons acts and personality. What I liked about taking these images is that I was in my comfort zone and taking images that I love taking which is photos with meaning. If I had to choose out of these images which was my favourite I would choose the end photo which is a bit blurred , this is because I feel like its so simple but on the other hand so effective in the way that its a mystery and from looking at it you just can't tell what their story or their background was like , however, it just makes it more exciting because you can say anything about this person because there is no intention of mine to make.If I had to make a name for that image I would call it "The mystery you decide" because it adds up all the things I was saying and personally if I had to great a book cover and thats the photo and thats the name I would basically blur the image more so you just can make out what it is then they have to look at the nam and I think it would encourage people to read the book and I would because it draws you in well to me it does. Next I will be evaluating one or two of these images and then research another photographer.
DAVID SHRIGLEY
|
David Shrigle - personally I feel that he sees an Opportunity for example the sign in the river saying 'river for sale' which you would not see originally because how can you buy a river unless you are buying the land but thats going of tracks but what i'm trying to say is you cant buy a river like you can buy a Starbucks coffee in a shop. However his images do sometimes have meaning an even though sometimes its unusual it still works and its not weird at all His work is not what I would really take images of , however, I will try it and you never now i could enjoy it. I will be using an camera digital to do this.

These are the objects that i am using to create these photos :
3rd experiment :
These images below are images that i have taken in school , I did not have an intention however i did have some ideas which i thought was creative.
Further experimentation:
Theses images are what i took at home followed on from the experiment at school. I don't actually know what my main intention is and personally I don't think that they are the best bunch of photos and might not be better then anyone else's , however, I like them the way they re and it does not need to be perfect because Im not perfect and cannot actually take any photos that will impress anyone or everyone. Therefore I think that I need to take more images however I am going to try and take images with meaning because i feel most comfortable with that. In my opinion I don't think that making signs is what I enjoy , don't get me wrong I did really enjoy it at the start that is, however , I just really want to do something really amazing and different and want to capture something that no one else has done or any thing else , I know it is going to be hard however I don't mind. One photo that I can say is my favourite is the time one I stuck a post it note on my mobile phone with the caption "TIME CAN STOP, ONLY IF YOU TAKE AN IMAGE OF IT" this is making or hopefully making people think that time is always going to tick and it will never stop and no matter what you think or what you do like wish time can stop just for a second. After this evaluation I would love to to get a camera and make signs but that make people think like placards in drama.
Here is some more images that i have taken that have meaning to it. for example the book case one I put "READ ME !! ITS NOT NICE BEING ON THIS SHELF YOU KNOW ?!" this is a great example for what i'm trying to say about meaning this is because even though it might sound cheesy but it makes complete sense if you think i'll explain so it shows the feeling of not being included or that the book is not interesting and can not fit in . However not all of them have meanings for example the number on the locker with the capture "have i traveled in time its the year '417'" this is no the best image i have taken in all the time that i have started this project because I was trying to make an image with meaning however it did not come out the way i planned it to so I would not take this image again. So three out of four images I feel has gone well. The one that I would improve is the on with my dance teacher holding up a sigh saying " life is like a dance theres highs and lows" I would improve it by changing where he is standing so from near the door to in front of the white wall facing opposite the mirrors because then people will not get distracted and look in to the background and see things so i would say that this is a bad image in terms of not thinking about the whole image .
Improvements :
These improvements are not the best because I used my phone and it was better on my phone then putting it on the compute because the computer makes it blurry so it looks ten times as better on my phone then the computer. Also even though said i would improve i feel like it was fine as it was however my teacher advised me to improve them but i feel like it has gotten worse then better. So i think that when i get home were i like to take my images more better and the look more better and i feel more comfortable then at school and there are more things to take at home and it makes you feel more free and you can be more imaginative. however my favourite sighn is the second image because it has a meaning and i do really think life is like a dance because it has highs and lows.
Forced Perspective:
|
ALIN PETRUS :I personally really like this artist because it does not just look beautiful its just really interesting and i do no something that he does, just makes me look at the image and just makes me just love it. To be honest i think its the fact that it has meaning to each of his images and that is what i love , most of the images i have on here of his is love but its more to it like things people might dream such as the girl on the floor with the balloons she might dream to just fly over the houses or the green light photo where hes jumping over buildings
|
More experiments :
Im going to be totally honest these images were based on the project 'Forced Perspective' , however it was to cheer me up and to have fun with my little brother. Even though it as little bit of fun i do actually think that they are my favourite bunch that i have taken in these projects 'absurd' and ' forced perspective'. I think if I had to to pick a favourite out of these would be the 6th image where i told my brother to put his face on the wall and then told him to choose drama with a facial expressions a mix between hurt and scared and i think he has done that really well.
Sunday 22nd Home Images 2 :
These image i took home
These images are the images that I photo of taking in the mock exam. My intention for this image was to show the different emotions that we as the human race have. Because I didn't want to ask every one to bring in stuff especially if people do not want to really do something they feel uncomfortable with doing which then left me to just chose 3 like emotions now i know your thinking to take photos of a happy face , sad face and a angry face the 'normal' emotions the more emotions that people feel in their everyday life so from that I decided to do casual , formal , dressy (for a night out ) and personally it actually works because I wanted to go different and at first I decided to to do the

First Final piece : Hide , Personality
Second Final piece : Another Galaxy
Third final piece : Double
Final evaluation :
This is my final evaluation for this project. I really did like this opportunity to do this project however it was hard at times because I did not enjoy all of it which was at the start however when I was researching photographers it just made me think and I got lots of ideas however some of them was made at home because that the only place with different things and that made my images even better. I think my favourite moment of this whole experience was when I did the experiment called 'Another Galaxy' I called it that because I edited it on Pic monkey to look different then they rest of my photos that I ever took in this whole project. I cant explain how happy i am that I have got my final pieces I just love each one and I might not be an outstanding photographer because I will never be better then them famous photographers or anyone that just do some amazing and beautiful photos but that just me. however saying that I cant say that I'm absolutely bad at the images I took for this whole experiment because personally I think that they are actually good may be that just me to think that. I wish that I could take an image that I can not just stop looking at or have the confidence to just say wow that image is one of the best. I'm not a photography to want praise or anything else but I think I'm waiting for myself to take an image and just say that the one that I have been like dreaming to take and to show my family and them to be proud of me like they already do.
In most of my images mostly at home I took images of my brother and to be completely honest Normally its to cheer me or my brother up and that one thing that I loved about this project when I took images at home was that I had fun and if I had to tell anyone or give advise is to just love what you take and just don't stress about getting a perfect image and don't get pressured in to getting a perfect image because all you need to do is to have fun and laugh and just enjoy what you doing because I'm speaking from experience because I have been then to try and take an image to make peoples think wow she has taken a perfect image because I have thought so many times to just take image and just go with what you want to take and that what I love about taking my images now is that I just love every single image that I have taken even the ones that went wrong.
Each of my experiments have a meaning to each of the photos that I took and that what I love when I take my images because they have to have a meaning or to me they are not a photo because how can you explain a image with no meaning because it just makes no complete sense at all. So I have you have a look or have had a look at my images you can see and you can read each of my evaluations they have a meaning and just because they are meant to be absurd and forced perspective I can still make a meaning out of a photo for example one of the images I took like from the hide project the girl that was in the corner was a mystery and I got there by thinking what could I do and how could I make the image have more meaning and have the audience think what is the background what happened to her and why it happened. And that what I go for every time I take photos and to make them interesting.
The photographers that I have researched over this course are a range of them but similar in different ways one photographer that was completely different was Erwin Worm because they are just strange however it is absurd so that's the whole point another photographer that I just fell in love with their photos was Alin Petrus and this is because I don't now I think that it was the fact that all of his photos in the slide show above on this site are just so interesting such as the one that had the women standing there in darkness and just a spotlight from above her looking down with letters all around her I just love it it just makes me want to look at the image for so many hours just one of his photos does it and that image i just look and think WOW its so simple however it just says so much well in my eyes it does.
During this project I have done a lot of experiments and they way I started was not taking a lot but having a minimal and just evaluating and i did this because I was planning to do so , so that I can look at what I have done with not a lot of images and then thought what I could do with a range of images. The first experiment was for hiding which was taking images or someone but they could be doing something that was unusual , something you would not see every day, one image that I took was an image of a boy sitting on a log with a sign that you would put down if the floor was wet or the wall had paint on. Through out the project I have used a range of technology (equipment) One the first couple of experiments I used a school Ipod and then I used a cannon small digital camera ,my phone, and for my last experiment I used a big photography digital camera and even though people would ask what one gave the photo the most clearness well all of them did however some went wrong for example when I had to retake some images for signs on my phone they looked better on my phone but when i uploaded it on the laptop they went fuzzy.
Through the whole process I feel that from my first ever image on this project compared with my last I do feel that actually I have come along way which I'm proud at because I was never confident in what I was producing but I have every little bit of confidence in my final pieces. Therefore on that note I would say that this has been and might be one of the best projects that I have ever done.
