What makes a good photograph ?
Q1: How should a good photograph express the photographer's intention?how should the photograph express what the photographer's wishes to say, his/her meaning? Answer: The photographer should express his/her intentions by focusing on their moral. The photo should be very easy to understand. For example the photo I have chosen focuses on the girl making her stand out against the dark background. what she is wearing is something very light and the colour white is making her stand out in the whole photo. I think the image on the right is showing that different ages of kids smoke or take drugs and also so relaxed and has attitude but it all about how there parents and the place they live is like. |
Q2. how can a good photograph communicate something that words cannot?
Answer: A good photograph can not communicate something with words unless you now why. If you cant you can say words to describe a photo but you can not say the story of the images as you can say that two girls came to the beach for a day out , the person who took it was there father or mother extra. A image can communicate something but words cannot communicate with the image . |
Q3: How can a good photograph engage or capture the viewer's attention ?
ANSWER: This picture can capture a viewer's attention looking at an image for a long time such as , if you look at this picture and just stare at it you can get a lot get questions like: What is behind that door? Why is it the only door on that floor? Is there anyone in the room?. Is there another corridor? It can get someone's attention but that is if you look at it for a long time. However if you look strait in to the image and went closer to the image then you can see a handle that look like you pull it open and above it . it has a door key pot and one the questions was ' Is there anyone in the room ? ' and I think the only person in the room is who took the picture and the other question was ' Is there another corridor ?' which could be were the bedroom is as you can see that the door can only be pulled. The room is arrange quite simply as the door is strait on and in the middle and the walls are quite symmetrical. And the door look like a hotel door. |
Q4: Can a good photograph make a person feel sympathy, sadness or happiness?
ANSWER: Yes, but it depends on the image if you look to the left the image I have chosen it and I can feel sympathy for the girl and sadness for her as it look like she is alone, but there is no happiness in the image but if you look at all different images it always have a emotions but every one takes it different way and people who sees these images react differently to different images but it can make a person feel sympathy , sadness and happiness ect. |
Q5: Do you think that a good photograph is best shown alone, or do you think that photographs should be shown as a collection with many others?
ANSWER: I think that it is 50/50 feeling because there is some photos that should be in a collection with many others but on the overhand there is some pictures that should be alone as if you think about it that if they are in a collection then it all connects together or is taken in the same task for an example street photography. However the is images that do not fit in with other images and might look better on its own.
