Task 1
Abstract photography is just like abstract art . Abstract photography is not concentrate on the whole image but it concentrates on Form, shape, texture, patten , colour and curves then it does on detail. People say that abstract and abstraction is all around the world but so people think not.
Task 2
Make a list of the Formal Elements on your page.
Formal Elements- focus, light , line , reparation , shape ,space, texture and value .
Aaron siskind is a photographer, he holds a preeminent place in the history of American photography . He was widely considered to be closely involved with, if not a part of, the abstract expressionist movement. Aaron started to be interested in photography in the 1930's when he was fascinated by some photographs from films , photographers and extra things. Siskind began concentrating on abstract form and textured surfaces.

HOMEWORK
For homework I went and took 39 photos of things you see everyday but never notice and just walk by not taking in all the beautiful and different objects. My intention was to take it slow and take my time. As I took my images I was thinking of questions from Mr Nichols example website , this helped me because it makes your images look better personally , then just taking images out of the blue ,however, its sometimes better to just take photos out of the ordinary. I was not just thinking of questions but because its december and it the month of Christmas I took images that can look Christmassy.
Its mostly nature because I love the nature around me and some that can be strange look so beautiful and things that are on plants which are not there normally it make it look more interesting and weird which I like.I put these 39 images in four different groups : Mushrooms , Berries ,Different plants and Objects in images . I am going to take a second section of images but abstract things such as : Body parts ( arms + legs) , glasses with lines in paper behind the glass with water in it. |

MY IMAGES IN 4 DIFFERENT GROUPS
GROUP 1
GROUP 2
GROUP 3
GROUP 4
MY THEME IS :LINES AND SHAPES AND TEXTURE
SECOND EXPERIMENT ON MY THEME:
I took these images today I was thinking of what to do and how to take them, I also asked my self in my mind what if and even though something came in one of the images when I took it it was effective and it made it look good to the audience.I also thought about the examples of what Miss showed us and told use to think then just take. What i am going to do next is to edit them i different ways. And my most successful and less successful.
This image is the best image out of the bunch of Francesca Woodman because its so simple but good.I now that this image is composed because i don't think that someone would be hanging of an door frame and a chair randomly there with a white cloth look like on it .If i had to describe this image in a couple of words I would say : 'simple' and 'different' just because it is different then other photographers work and simple because it has a chair and a person in the background. If i had to describe this image to a person that as not seen it an wants to now what it looks like i would say that its is simple but different and the main subject of the image is a person hanging from the door frame wearing a dress like with a brown chair which look hold and looks like it is in a walk way from the front door. When I look at the image for the first time insanely I see a young girl and a chair because its two images that stand out in the image.

HOLIDAY HOMEWORK : line , light and texture
My theme when I was taking these images was : Line, Light and Texture. I was thinking while I was sitting in my bedroom of what to take images of, then an idea came in my head and I still had empty bottles of j2O in the kitchen and put water in to it. After doing that I did not want to use the same shape of bottles so I used wine glasses. I had four different colour straws so I cut them and dropped them into one of the wine glasses. For one of the J2O bottles I put water in to it and then got sugar in a small headed spoon and slowly poured sugar in the water which I filmed that is below ,behind the bottle there was a candle that I lit to give it more of an effect which I think it did.But for my first couple of images I had lined paper that I drew more lines on so it was packed in on the paper but bigger when you look though the water in the glass which also made different shapes. Personally I think the experiment went well as I thought outside the box and the mistakes that happened made the image whole which would not be there if I did not make the mistake. However If i had to change anything or improve, I would do different effects to the background and have different lighting. If I had to change the colour I would change it in different ways then always using black an white, I did change the colour in some images that made it better and more effective to the audience . Normally I take nature images over different things so I decided to come out of my comfort zone and what I knew would change my pathway , which personally felt good to change there was things that I learnt like how things look beautiful then just nature. I deicide to go independent in the way of taking different images my way then after writing a good evaluation then ask my teacher and get her opinion and others in my class. When I was taking these images I was thinking of three questions which were: How will I present them ? , Why uses objects with water init ? and What will you think of how they come out at the end with out looking at them. When you take images and you have the subject / stimulus of in this case abstract you need to take a selection of images without looking and judging them until when you up load or do what you want then you look and choose the ones that look good however always remember that mistakes are good even if its in the image and could make the image more interesting. If I had to name my selection of image I would call it 'Life under water' I don't now why but I think it goes with the image , if I had to name it another I would call it 'Good and Bad , Light and Darkness' .
My video experiment :
DEVELOPMENTS: OF MY HOMEWORK:
Homework
When I was taking these images I was trying to get different things in the mirror. I did not take a lot because I know that the more the image the more you get and which makes it harder for me to chose. When I was taking these images I was thinking of multiple questions such as : Why are you taking these in images? , what do you fined interesting about these images when you are taking them ? , what will you say about them? and so on, which actually helped because I know that I take my best objects in my images NATURE but this is out of my confront area so that was interesting for me personally. If I had to take these images again I think I would go slower and think about what I actually want them to look like when I evaluate them which I am doing now. So to answer my own question I am happy with how they have come out however not exacted with how they come out because I feel that they are all the same and not different and individual. When I develop them after talking about them is to change there colour if not then take more but with different places and with different mirrors.

Paul strand
Paul strand's work is characterized of great richness of surface detail. Paul photographed a vary of subject matter , including : portraits , landscapes and abstraction. In abstraction Paul uses the theme Reflection and lines for most of his images. I love his images because it is so simple but he makes it look complicated which I like so much. In most of his images he uses stairs which as shadows of lines but he does not just use stairs he doses multiple objects like in one image he as a horse and a fence which look like it is in the countryside where most horses are which I personally like because images with nature or animals as its look so beautiful.
|
|
This image is my favourite image personally because its my kind a thing as because animals and nature are involved. In this image it has two objects that the audience see straight away because I know I did but when you look at the image more closely and for a longer time you see different things around the image which makes the image a whole for an example because the image the sky is more dark as it look like that when it was in colour it was dark but it looks more effective to me personally. If I had to describe this image in two words : Peaceful and Beautiful because it look like it is so peaceful as its just him taking the image and a horse which links to my other word beautiful. If I had to describe to a person that could not see it I would say " The image is in black and white it has two objects that is in the background and the image has a peaceful feeling about it". I think this image is naturalistic and not abstract because You can not make a horse and the surroundings abstract unless you go on photoshop or on an app.The most thing that strikes me in is the hose as the way its just looking to its left my right like its so eloquent and I can see that it has been brought up really well. If i had to name this image I would call it : " The eloquent hose field " because in my trepanation of it is that it makes me smile and think of a different life if i was there taking the image and see it physically as it is really different to the city. If I had to call it some thing else I would call it " peaceful countryside" has it has that vibe to the image. I think the effective part of the image is how he presenting the image and i think that there is nothing that does not work well in this image. Honesty I do not now what people would say about this image because every person has a different and individual made which i can not see however I know that people will like it and people would not like it. If i spoke to the photographer (Paul Strand) I would say that why did you not do any image like that . But i would be happy to sit in a sit and look at image like that. I have learned a lot from this one image is that it can be simple and it will still look effective. When I do more images i think tat i would but more animals into the image then just trees, flowers ect (nature).

EXPERIMENT 2: AT HOME :USED AN APP :
My intention was to give a feeling of free and emotions and the app i used on my iPod was split pic where you take an image for the background and then get another image and blend them both I chose to mix things up so for the background and then get an image from the internet and then blend them so they look like they are on fall images which i love so much. Before I was taking these images I had nothing to do and the thing that popped right into my head and said take images for photograph, this is not homework but because I was proud and thought that they looked beautiful I decided to let the world see what I can do when I put my mind to it which I was shy about. When I was taking these images I did not think of questions like I normally do but just take as I had all these ideas so I just took which was so interesting because I thing is you think to much the ideas might change and turn out worsted then you wanted them to. The app I used to make these images work was 'SPLIT PIC' which is my favourite app at the moment it just makes images that little bit easier and helps me think of ideas however its just a starter because then I could expand by using the app by taking to different images from my surroundings and blend them. This is just a experiment so not a lot will turn out for my tasted or yours however some mistakes here and there will be could and you never now it can turn out much better you can not tell the future and tell if there will be mistakes but no one is perfect. What I like about these images personally is that they are so different to other images that I have taken before which is a good feeling because if you look at my previous images they are of nature but its not a bad thing because I am going to use this app at school and take different images from nature and make them blend which I was talking about previously in this evaluation. Hope you enjoy my images.
SCHOOL EXPERIMENT:
second school experiment :
FIRST FINAL PIECE:
SECOND FINAL PIECE
THIRD FINAL PIECE
All I have done in the project Abstraction :
When I started this project ABSTRACTION I did not know what was coming because I did not now what to take and if it was my thing , however , I proved myself wrong and I got in to the project and I enjoyed every second of it. My first thing I did on this page was to make a pinterest of my own which is on the top of my page. And then I researched my first artist Aaron Siskid now personally I am not good at researching and writing what they do then others but I tried and I did not write a whole paragraph because I just love taking my own images and making it look abstract because I do take a little bit of inspiration but its not my thing but I also researched another artist who is Francesca Woodman but I only made a slideshow of her images because I just wanted to Take more images which I just love. My first experiment was my own images at home what I chose to take was my favourite objects/ subjects to take is nature because it just as so much life inside it and just makes me happy and because I took 39 images I used all the images and I put them into groups and there was 4 groups altogether. My next experiment was at school and I don't really like taking a lot at school because I there is not a lot to take anless you want to see the same type of images which does not excited me because it would just bore me and I do quite a lot because I like taking different images all the time so I only took 6 photos altogether and I was actually proud what I took because they were a little different then I would normally take of which made me a feeling of I can change and take other images and make them look beautiful. After taking the images I used two images from the 6 and and say out of each one of them which is successful and which was not and then I explained why so then I developed them each twice and then took two others that look quite similar and did they same and repeated for the last two which looked similar. With abstraction I needed to think of two to three themes and for the next experiment I took Line, light and texture and with the experiment I had one J2o bottle and two wine glasses and I put water in each of the bottles and then I drew lines on the paper and put behind the bottles to make an effect which worked really well in my eyes when I took them images I chose to do more and what I did was use the J2O bottle and I turned the lights out and used a candle behind the glass and but sugar in the bottle and because I enjoyed it so much I did a Youtube video of what it look like with out it getting frozen at on moment in time and I wrote and evaluation of the experiment at home. My next experiment was at school and I used the same theme and used a pot with water and objects behind with lights shining on the pot of water. I then researched another artist which is Paul strand and I feel in love with one of his images which I made a long evaluation of next to the image. My second to last experiment was the app to blend an image form Google with an image I took which I loved but it was not all my work so at school I took images and blended them together with the app which I enjoyed the most out of taking images with the app.And now I have three final pieces which I can not display my way.
